What I Like About the OGERY Lights
I like to use a variety of lighting when I’m camping. String lights help create ambiance around camp, while lanterns provide more direct lighting for cooking, organizing gear, and other campsite tasks after dark.
On a recent trip, I wrapped the string lights around my canopy over my camp kitchen area, then hung the main unit above my camp table using the built-in handle. Having both the string lights and lantern combined into one device worked especially well for cooking and spending time around camp in the evening.

How They Perform at Camp
The string lights themselves are not especially bright, but that’s actually what I want from camp string lights. They work best for ambiance rather than lighting up an entire campsite. The 49-foot length is one of the best features. It’s long enough to wrap completely around a canopy, string across a campsite, or use around a large tent setup without being limited by a shorter length. I mostly use the warm light mode on the string lights and don’t personally find much need for the multicolor or glow cycle settings.
The built-in lantern and flashlight modes make this much more useful than standard camping string lights. I’ve found the lantern especially helpful for overhead lighting around my camp kitchen area, and I like being able to use a single device for both ambiance and direct task lighting.
Design and Usability
The retractable winding system is probably my favorite part of the design. Instead of dealing with tangled string lights, the cord winds back neatly into the unit for easy storage and setup.
I also appreciate the dual-button controls. One button controls the string lights while the other controls the lantern and flashlight modes, making it easy to switch between lighting types. Another thoughtful feature is that you don’t have to cycle through every mode to turn the lights off. After a mode has been on for more than ten seconds, pressing the same button again powers it off directly.
Battery Life and Charging
Battery life has been very good in my experience, even with heavy use around camp. I don’t personally use the unit as a power bank since I prefer saving the battery for lighting, but it’s nice to have the option available if needed.
I mainly recharge it via USB-C, but I like having the solar charging capability available as backup, especially for camping trips where access to power may be limited. The water-resistant design is also important since light rain is common on many of my camping trips.
