The Ruckpack 18 is a compact, streamlined day pack designed for hiking, yet its versatile features make it useful beyond the trail. While I usually prefer larger day packs for hiking, I find this one great for shorter outings and travel.

The 18 liter capacity is compact yet practical, with a dedicated sleeve that fits a 15-inch laptop or a hydration reservoir (not included). The zippered interior lid pocket adds another layer of organization, while the side pocket with a hidden zippered security compartment keeps essentials safe and easily accessible. A deep stretch pocket on the side keeps a water bottle within reach.
I especially like the easy access to the pack’s main compartment via the front zippered panel. For hiking, this is where I keep extra layers and trail snacks, while the zippered interior pocket holds my first aid kit, and the exterior side pocket holds small items like my car keys, wallet and phone.
When you need to carry extra gear, the split-webbing daisy chain on the front allows for additional attachments. Trekking pole loops and tool keepers tuck away when not in use, enhancing the pack’s versatility for both outdoor excursions and everyday commuting. I also like that I can remove the waistbelt and don’t have to deal with extra dangling straps.
I love this pack for travel and city outings because of its sleek, compact design. I recently used it as a carry-on while traveling for keeping important items accessible, stashing extra layers I might want on flights, and a water bottle that I could refill in airports.
